Tools used to create this site
- Documents: HTML documents are created using
vi. The home, news,
calendar, roster, map and some other pages are written in PHP4, pulling
data from a MySQL database. Tools have been created to allow others
to update the content on these pages.
- Graphics: All photographic images are scanned on a
Hewlett Packard ScanJet 4C flatbed scanner, and manipulated in a
combination of
PaintShop Pro,
XV,
and the GIMP.
The 3-D logo used at the top of every page, and the larger
version which is offered for download as
wallpaper were all
produced with
POV-Ray.
Five-plus years ago. Haven't done much since.
- Music: The music downloadable from this site is currently
prepared in the following manner (steps 2-4, and even part of 5
are done by one "makejpg" script):
- Plain text file is typed up in a shorthand version of the
Bagpipe
Music Writer (BMW) format
- The shorthand is expanded into
standard BMW
format using a Bourne shell script (mbmw)
- A PostScript file is produced from the BMW file, using a
Perl version (bmwps.pl) of Robert MacNeil's
Bagpipe Music Writer PRO
and BMW PostScript definitions. I do own a legal
copy of BMW PRO, but I had to rewrite it because I don't
use MS-DOS. If you are interested in further details on
these scripts, please contact
me. I could possibly give you the scripts I have written, but
you will need to purchase BMW PRO to get the PostScript
definitions you need for bmwps.pl to work. I will not give
you Robert's software, so please don't ask.
- Ghostscript is
used to convert the PostScript to JPEG format
- The JPEG file is quickly cropped and converted to GIF
format using
XV,
or can be opened in
the GIMP for adding text, etc.
