Biography:Ed has been drumming since he was 7 years old. He started playing in his father's band in Grove City, PA and won every drumming title available for grade 4 in EUSPBA and PPBSO. Ed then took on the role of drum corporal for the North Coast pipe band in 1992 and then won several titles including North American Champion and 4th place at the World Pipe Band Championships. In 1998 Ed joined the Grade 1 L.A. Scots under then lead drummer, Carl Lenny. During his time in the grade 1 band the drummers received an overall 7th place at the World Pipe Band Championships and a first in drumming in the qualifying round. Ed then took over the grade 4 Misty Isle Pipe Band in 2004 and took the band to a third place finish at the World Championships and also moved the band steadily through the ranks to a promotion to grade 2 at the end of the 2006 season. Ed is proud to again be back in the L.A. Scots organization as Lead Drummer for the new grade 3 band. Ed is also a professional soloist and a drumming adjudicator on the WUSPBA "A" Panel. He has a large studio of students who regularly appear in the prize list at all solo events and over the past several years they have taken the top spots in the WUSPBA aggregate races. Ed also regularly instructs many bands in Southern California and throughout the country. His major influences and teachers have been Larry WIllis, Patty Slagle, Mark Humphrey, and Carl Lenny. However he has also received instruction from many others including Hugh Cameron, Jon Quigg, John Fisher, and Jim Kilpatrick. Ed received his B.A. in Music from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1997 and did his graduate studies at the University of La Verne. He is currently a Lecturer and Instrumental Instructor in Scottish Percussion at U.C. Riverside.
