Both the Grade One and the new Grade Four Bands did well in the first competition of the year, at the http://www.unitedscottishsociety.com/">United Scottish Society's 73rd Annual Highland Games in Pomona, CA. On Saturday, both the Grade One and Grade Four Bands took home First Place, as well as Best Bass Section, in the Medley and Quick March Medley contests, respectively.

There have been a lot of changes this year. The http://www.lascots.org/roster.php?grade=4">Grade Four Band, under the direction of http://www.lascots.org/profile.php?id=96">P/M Evan MacKay and http://www.lascots.org/profile.php?id=22">D/S Joe Foley, is only recently formed. This was their first contest out together, and their hard work shows. This was the first real test of the http://www.lascots.org/roster.php?grade=1">Grade One Band's new http://www.lascots.org/profile.php?id=4">P/M Colin Armstrong, who took over the band only weeks before the last contest last year. Colin, and http://www.lascots.org/profile.php?id=46">former P/M Scott MacDonald, who also works with the Grade Four Band, have put together a very promising pipe corps for this year. There were four new pipers in the circle on Saturday, playing in a Grade One contest for the first time! The drum corps, under the direction of http://www.lascots.org/profile.php?id=67">D/S Andrew Hoinacki, introduced a side drummer to Grade One competition as well.

On Sunday, the Bands played well again, mirroring each other's results, with both Bands taking Second Place.
